PROCESSING VLIESELINE 276
Vlieseline 276 is a natural product, so it's recommended to wash the fabric before use to prevent subsequent shrinkage. After washing, do not wring, but squeeze lightly and let it dry flat. Baste the batting to the wrong side of the fabric and sew it in place by hand or machine; or simply place it under the fabric and sew it in place. Always space the stitches no more than 10cm apart.
We offer a huge selection of stabilizers in our webshop: iron-on and sew-in, woven and non-woven, suitable for DIY and hobby purposes, and both branded and private label. The most important thing is to choose a stabilizer that suits the fabric and the intended use:
For DIY fashion projects , we offer iron-on and sew- in interfacing. Fusible interfacing and fusible interfacing are adhesive-backed and permanently bonded to the fabric with a hot iron. They are ideal for small garments, providing shape or support, such as collars and cuffs, or for strengthening them—think buttonhole facings. They are also often suitable for reinforcing home accessories (curtain ties or tiebacks) and fashion accessories (bags, belts, or sashes). They can also be used to make fabrics less transparent (e.g., for the bodice of a dress). Choose a supple, thin interfacing for lightweight fabrics and a firm, thicker one for heavier fabrics. For stretch fabrics, elastic interfacing is the best option; for heat-sensitive fabrics (such as leather or imitation leather), there's a choice between sew-in interfacing and iron-on interfacing that can be applied at a low iron setting. With woven fusible interfacing, the grain direction must be taken into account.
For neat and sharp hems or for strong seams, we offer a wide range of iron-on and sew- in bindings, with or without pre-punched folds. Ideal for beautiful hems, curved and straight seams, skirt and trouser waistbands, belts, or waistbands.
Batting, or bulk fleece, is a thick, soft, and insulating layer placed between two layers of fabric, such as in quilts or jackets. It can be made of man-made fibers or natural fibers (such as wool, bamboo, or cotton). There are thin and thick types (quilters refer to them as low loft and high loft ).
For hobby and craft projects, we offer various special types of stabilizer in our webshop. Think of very strong stabilizer for making things like baskets, bags, or other three-dimensional textile designs. For patchwork and quilting, we offer stabilizer with a handy printed quilt grid, and for embroidery, we offer embroidery stabilizer . This non-woven material is used to temporarily reinforce delicate or stretchy fabrics, making it easier to embroider or appliqué on a sewing machine. Embroidery stabilizer is available in various versions, such as Soluvlies (water-soluble), stitch-and-pull (tear-away or cut-away), or vliesofilm (self-adhesive, for small pieces that don't fit in an embroidery hoop).
