A sharpener to sharpen the edge of your tailor's chalk.
Chalk wears down all around, and then you draw a three-millimeter-wide line where you need half a millimeter. At a seam or a hem, that is exactly the difference between a fit and a mismatch.
You place the piece of chalk in the slot and pull it through. After a few movements, you have a sharp edge again, and your chalk lasts longer because you don't have to throw it away as soon as it becomes blunt.
For the classic flat triangular tailor's chalk.
