We are looking for a colleague
Madeline de stoffenmadam has been around for almost 14 years. What started as a small shop has grown into a big fabric house in Lier, with a webshop and a sewing studio where we teach. Our team? Six women who work here with heart and soul.
We do more than sell fabric. We help people make things themselves, we give advice, we run workshops and we set up projects that bring people together. And we are looking for someone who wants to help carry that.
When you work
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, from 9.00am to 5.30pm. The shop closes at 5pm, but we never push anyone out the door. If someone is still standing among the racks, unsure what to choose, you help them out calmly and lock up afterwards. So count on a day that sometimes runs a little late.
Would you like one Saturday off a month? That is possible, we will work it out together.
What you will do
- Welcome customers and advise them. Choosing between all those fabrics is hard, you make it easy.
- Help keep the shop running: orders, webshop, stock and till.
- Computer work: putting products online, answering emails.
- Put your shoulder under our workshops, projects and wild plans.
Who you are
- You sew yourself, regularly, and you can advise others.
- You love sewing and you love people. Both equally.
- You pick things up without anyone having to ask.
- You stay calm and friendly when it gets busy.
- You think in "how do we solve this", not in "that is not my job".
- Working on Saturdays is no problem for you.
- Computer work does not scare you.
- You speak Dutch. Our customers get their advice in Dutch.
- Do you enjoy standing in front of a group and sharing what you know? Good, because there is room here to grow into that.
What we offer
- A fair wage according to the retail sector, in line with your experience.
- A bicycle allowance if you cycle to work.
- You are never on your own. There is always an experienced colleague nearby to think along or step in.
- The chance to learn to teach workshops. We build that up together, at your own pace and with no obligation.
- A warm, close team that you are really part of.
- Room to think along and help build our projects.
- Variety: no two days are the same.
- A place where craftsmanship and humanity come together.
Something for you?
